Seniors at Madison High School have the opportunity to apply this winter for a new scholarship created by the family of Orva Aus Anderson. Madison seniors have until April 1 to apply for a $500 scholarship memorializing Anderson and her husband, the late Robert Aus. The annual scholarship will go to any Madison High School graduate who enrolls at any accredited university, college, technical institute or trade school to earn a degree or certification in a medical field. Robert Aus graduated from Madison Central High School in 1936 and served on the school board from 1958 to 1965. The couple's children also graduated from Madison High School -- the late Tom Aus in the class of 1966 and Kay Pederson in the class of 1968. According to Monica Campbell, executive director of the Madison Central Educational Foundation, the Aus family hoped to make a difference in students' lives through the scholarship. Campbell said the family started the award "to give back to their alma mater, their community and (as) a way to remember their loved ones."
