Wolves handle Trojans 95-62

The Dakota State University Trojans played their first exhibition basketball game of the season on Friday night and lost to the Wolves 95-62 at the Barnett Center in Aberdeen.

The Wolves opened up a 21-point halftime lead (47-26) and never looked back in the contest.

DSU connected on 23 of 50 field goals (46 percent) and hit 10 of 14 free throws (71 percent).

Terrell Newton scored a team-high 21 points for the Trojans. He also snared five of the team's 21 rebounds and dished out four assists.

Cameron Krump added 14 counters for DSU and Marcus Smith pumped in 11 points.

NSU hit a blazing 56 percent from the floor (39-69) and cashed in on 4-of-6 free throws (66 percent).

Michael Emge scored 23 points for the Wolves while Dustin Tetzlaff added 20 points. Mack Arvidson chipped in with 10 counters.

The Wolves grabbed 38 rebounds, with Tetzlaff and Trent Zomer each grabbing eight rebounds.

DSU will face Augustana College at the Elmen Center in Sioux Falls on Monday (tonight) at 7 p.m. This is another exhibition game for the Trojans.

DSU will host Presentation College on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
