Flyers, C-E Hawks pick up wins at Entringer Classic

The Chester Flyers and Colman-Egan Hawks picked up wins at the 19th annual Boys' Michael J. Entringer Scholarship Classic at Brookings on Saturday.|
Chester opened up a 13-2 lead after one period and never looked back in posting a 52-28 win over the Lake Preston Divers.
The Flyers enjoyed a 26-8 halftime lead.
Chester made 18 of 37 field goals, 48 percent, and connected on 13 of 15 free throws, 86 percent. The Divers made just 12 of 40 field goals, 30 percent, and made 2-of-7 from the charity stripe, 28 percent.
The Flyers won the battle on the boards 28-24.
Austin Opdahl, the game's MVP, scored 22 points, grabbed five rebounds and had two assists to pace the Flyers. Cole Acheson added 20 points, six rebounds and three assists for the winners. Josh Anderson pulled down a game-high eight rebounds for Chester.
Cole Casper scored 12 points while Layne Jensen tossed in eight points for the Divers. Jensen had a team-high six rebounds.
Chester (2-4 overall) will swing back into action on Thursday when the Flyers go to Flandreau for the Big East Conference Tournament. Chester will face the Flandreau Fliers in the 8 p.m. game.
Colman-Egan 48, Hamlin 42
Colman-Egan hung on to down the Hamlin Chargers 48-42.
The C-E Hawks enjoyed a 17-12 lead after the first quarter. Hamlin outscored Colman-Egan 10-5 in the second period to deadlock the score at 22-22 at intermission.
The C-E Hawks regained the lead after the third period 32-28.
Colman-Egan made 12 of 40 field goals, 30 percent, and hit 20 of 29 free throws, 69 percent. The Chargers made 13 of 49 field goals, 26 percent, and 15 of 22 free throws, 68 percent.
The Chargers held the advantage on the boards 38-34.
Keaton Westover and Trenton Hemmer each had 12 points to lead the C-E Hawks. Riley Clark, the game's MVP, scored nine points, grabbed eight rebounds and had two assists for Colman-Egan.
E.J. Drake tossed in 11 counters to pace the Chargers. Mason Leiseth grabbed a team-high eight rebounds.
Colman-Egan (2-4 overall) will swing back into action on Friday, when the C-E Hawks host Deubrook in a Dakota Valley Conference clash.
DeSmet 52, O-R-R 28
The DeSmet Bulldogs outscored Oldham-Ramona-Rutland 29-8 in the second half to pull away and gain the 52-28 win.
The Bulldogs enjoyed a 23-20 halftime advantage before pulling away in the second half.
O-R-R made just 12 of 44 field goals, 27 percent, and hit 2-of-7 free throws, 28 percent. DeSmet made 24 of 53 field goals, 45 percent, and made 3-of-8 free throws, 37 percent.
The Raiders held the advantage on the boards 39-32.
Ryan Schlisner scored eight points and grabbed 11 rebounds to pace the Raiders. Josh Thurow added seven points and pulled down seven rebounds for O-R-R.
Austin Janssen scored 14 points and snared five rebounds for the Bulldogs. Janssen was named the game's MVP. Kyler Asleson tossed in 13 counters for the winners.
O-R-R (2-5 overall) will host DeSmet on Friday in Oldham and the tipoff is set for 6:30 p.m.
