| Lady Flyers notch ninth win over Arlington |

"We took this game very seriously and it was very important to win it," said Chester coach Ross Peterson. "We wanted to keep the momentum going into the district tournament and the way we won was even better." Led by Erin Benson, the Lady Flyers jumped out to a 14-7 first quarter advantage. Benson scored 10 of the 14 points for Chester. The Lady Flyers stretched the lead to nine, 24-15, at halftime. Behind the play of Elena Borah, the Lady Flyers opened up a 12 point advantage, 29-17, with 5:44 left in the third period. Borah completed a successful three-point play. Arlington outscored Chester 9-7 to close the period but still trailed 36-26. The field goal registered by the Lady Flyers was a three-pointer by Jenna Reiff just before the buzzer sounded.

"We were sharing the ball and was able to get the ball inside to Elena and Rachel Reiff. We rebounded well and that led us to our transition game." Chester made 18 of 44 field goals, 40 percent and hit 12 of 19 free throws, 63 percent. Arlington made 15 of 43 field goals, 34 and hit 3-of-6 free throws, 50 percent. Chester held a slim advantage on the boards, 25-20. "We were making field goals when we were getting fouled and connecting on the free throws," Peterson said. Borah scored a game-high 21 points and grabbed six rebounds to pace the Lady Flyers. Benson ended the game with 18 counters, nine rebounds and eight assists. Jenna Reiff and Heyn rounded out the scoring with seven and six points respectively. Jenna Reiff pulled down six rebounds. Brooklyn Judstra scored 14 points and Sami Boeck added 13 counters to power the Cardinals. Chester (9-11) will host the Dell Rapids St. Mary Cardinals on Thursday in the second round of the District 4B tournament. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. Chester beat Dell Rapids St. Mary earlier this season. "They are an improved team Kelly Michel and Mikayla Brown are forces to be reconciled with inside," Peterson said. "We need to come with the same energy that we showed tonight. We need to rebound, make free throws and have fewer turnovers to get the win." Arlington won the junior varsity game 38-25. Sierra VanLiere and Chandra Schwartz each scored nine points for Chester.
