Trojans blanked twice by Campbellsville

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. -- Dakota State University was blanked twice by Campbellsville on Saturday in baseball action at the HIG Field.|
The Tigers opened the doubleheader with a 3-0 win over the Trojans.
Campbellsville got on the board in the third inning when Keaton Neeb hit a double and his courtesy runner, Levi McCamish, scored on a sacrifice fly.
The Tigers stretched their lead to 2-0 in the fourth inning and tacked on the final run in the fifth on a sacrifice bunt by Tanner Scott.
DSU struggled at the plate, getting just one hit by Keven Madera.
The Tigers mustered just four hits. Neeb had a double and a single.
Josh Caven (0-1) suffered the loss. He worked five innings and allowed three runs (one unearned) on four hits. Luke Gassman tossed 1/3 inning in relief. Jamie Jorgensen worked 2/3 innings and gave up a walk.
Tyler Schmunk tossed four innings to register the win. He allowed one hit and struck out four batters. Matt Robertson record the save by pitching the final three shutout innings.
Campbellsville 7, DSU 0
The Tigers jumped out to a 3-0 in the first inning and never looked back in posting a 7-0 win over the Trojans. The big blow of the inning was an RBI double by Aaron Schwoebel.
Campbellsville added a run each in the second and the fourth innings and held a 5-0 lead. The Tigers tacked on two more runs in the sixth frame for the final runs of the game.
Corey Pasichnyk, Chaz Palmer and Drew Sweeter each had a single for the Trojans.
Scott and Schwoebel each had a double and a single for the winners.
The Tigers outhit DSU 10-3. DSU committed four errors.
Madera (0-3) suffered the loss. He pitched three innings and allowed five runs (two unearned) on seven hits. Seth Rockafellow pitched two innings and gave up two hits. Seth Spears pitched one inning in relief and allowed two runs (one unearned) on one hit.
Sean Bouthillette picked up the win as he worked five innings. He limited DSU to two hits and recorded eight strikeouts. Mason Yates and Jeff Larabee each pitched an inning of relief.
DSU (3-12 overall) heads to Hastings, Neb., for a four-game series on Saturday and Sunday.
