Shooting Sports training set

The Lake County 4-H Shooting Sports program is seeking instructors to assist with the archery and gun program offered to area youth.

In order for the program to continue to reach youth interested in Shooting Sports, additional trained adult volunteers are needed. In 2012, the total number of youth in the archery program exceeded 60 and those in the BB gun/air rifle program exceeded 30.

The following dates have been set for 4-H Shooting Sports Instructor Certification. There are three opportunities in this area for training:

-- Dec. 1 - Ipswich, registration at 8 a.m., session concludes by 5 p.m. Classes offered include rifle, pistol, archery, shotgun and muzzle loading.

-- Dec. 2 - Clark, registration at 9 a.m., session concludes by 5:30 p.m. Classes offered include rifle, pistol and archery. Free hunting workshop from 1-5 p.m. for junior/senior shooters, parents and coaches.

-- Jan. 5 - Vermillion, registration at 8 a.m., session concludes by 5 p.m. Classes offered include rifle, pistol, archery and muzzle loading.
