The Lake County Sheriff's Department responded to two vehicular accidents late last week. At about noon on Saturday, Amy Janke, 34, of Madison was stopped at the intersection of US-81 and 225th St. about 7 miles north of Madison. Janke was northbound on the highway and was waiting for another vehicle to turn west onto 225th St. She was driving alone in a 2013 Ford Explorer. Helen Syverson, 86, of Arlington was also driving alone northbound in a 2007 Buick Lucerne and came upon the intersection. Driving at about 55 mph, Syverson failed to see the other vehicles stopped at the intersection and rear-ended the Explorer, pushing it into the northeast corner of the intersection. Damage to each vehicle was estimated at $5,000, and both the Buick and the Ford were towed at the accident scene. Sheriff's personnel also responded to a one-vehicle rollover accident on Thursday. At about 12:30 p.m., Daniel Dannenbring, 63, of Wentworth was driving a 2000 Chevrolet S-10 pickup westbound on 226th St. near 448th Ave. southwest of Ramona. Dannenbring was driving alone at about 50 mph when he came to the crest of a hill and his rear tires fishtailed on the roadway. The skidding caused the pickup to slide into the south ditch and roll over. Damage to the pickup was estimated at $1,000.
