Those interested in stepping in as a Lake County Commissioner for the next two years should submit a letter to the Lake County Auditor's office explaining why they are interested in the position. Lake County Auditor Bobbi Janke said those interested should submit that letter by Feb. 4. A full application is not being required. County Commissioners will then review the letters at the Feb. 5 County Commission meeting. One seat on the Lake County Commission will be vacant effective March 3. Commissioner Chris Giles stepped down to accept the position of Lake County state's attorney. Current State's Attorney Ken Meyer announced his resignation in December. Meyer will vacate the state's attorney position in March to work for his family's business (AH Meyer and Sons).
