County to interview 14 for commission seat
By ELISA SAND, Staff Reporter

Lake County Commissioners got their first look at the 14 letters of interest submitted by county residents for the open commission seat.

Following a closed session discussion about personnel, commissioners agreed to set up interviews with each of those interested in the position. Those five-minute interviews will take place Feb. 19 in closed session.

Asked if the names of the interested parties would be available to the public, State's Attorney Ken Meyer said the only information that will be released is information on the person selected.

Commissioners are interviewing to fill the seat presently held by Chris Giles. Giles has been appointed as state's attorney, which takes effect March 3. Meyer announced plans in December to step down from his position as state's attorney at that time.

Giles was previously state's attorney from 1997 until mid-2005.
