By Staff

A bill seeking funding for Dakota State University to expand its information systems programs cleared the Senate on Wednesday and now heads to the House Appropriations committee for consideration.

As originally drafted, SB236 asked for a $900,000 allocation in state funding to add four information systems faculty members over a three-year period. The bill passed committee with $1 listed as the funding allocation.

According to Russell Olson, District 8 senator and Senate Majority Leader, all spending bills are initially considered with $1 listed as the allocation amount. Those bills have a specific amount inserted upon final passage.
